Hey guys, it's Scott.
It is Tuesday, October 29th. I can't believe it's so long since I've done a post. I promise this will not happen again. But as many of you know who have met with me or saw me at conventions or just follow me in general on social media, this last month and a half has been the busiest of my whole life, easily, between finishing the season two Wytches animated series writer's room for Amazon and, of course, being a part of the launch of DC All In, DC Comics’ big initiative this October where every single book in the main line is a jumping-on point. And we also have a brand new universe called the Absolute Universe where all the heroes are re-imagined. And we also launched Absolute Batman there with Nick Dragotta.
I can't thank you guys enough for showing up the way you have. I've been meaning to post about it constantly, honestly, but it's just been overwhelming. I've never had response the way I've had to this right off the bat. I mean, Batman was a slow burn. People really dug it from the beginning, but it took us a few issues to really get that buy-in from people that were skeptical. And this one, like, I've just never seen this kind of support from day one and the response. I'm just so humbled, honestly, and flattered and just fired up. Nick is coming to my house tomorrow morning and we're going to spend all day working on Arc Two of the series. We just love it so much. So thank you guys.
I cannot express to you how grateful I am. We love this book dearly and had no idea if you guys would love it as much as we do and the fact that not just that you like it or don't like it, but that you're engaged and talking about it and showed up to give it a try means the world to everybody on the team. And even better, the fact that you showed up to support all of these Absolute books, the mainline got a huge bump. But the fact that Absolute Wonder Woman is selling close to 200,000 copies…
…and Absolute Superman is doing the same and selling out.
I didn't expect this groundswell. I mean, my hope was that, again, that you guys would show up this way, but it just wasn't something that I anticipated. It's the first time I really underestimated the response, and so I'm so grateful. I know I said it in my last post, but it needs to be said again.
But I am free! So after New York Comic Con, I promised Jeanie and the kids we'd go away. We went to Disney for a few days, which was awesome. And we could ignore the Yankees' horrific collapse. Right now as I make this it is 0 to 3 in favor of the Dodgers. And I had tickets to tonight's game with my son, Emmett, and we just couldn't bring ourselves to go, honestly. I put the tickets up for sale, I can't watch the Dodgers celebrate on Yankee Stadium. And he's so heartbroken. I feel awful because I feel like watch them turn it around and I'll have missed this game. But I just can't do it. I can't go there and watch them lose. And he didn't want to at all. I was pushing him. But anyway, that's beside the point. Disney was great:
And then I'm going to Lucca, if anyone listening to this is going to Lucca, Italy for the Comics and Games convention. I've never been. I'm really excited. This is my trip just with Jeanie, the two of us, just for a few days. I can't wait. And then I'm back and my workload is really reduced. It's just Absolute Batman and my books for DSTLRY…
…and ComiXology.
So I'm really, really excited. It's the first time in a while I can just focus on comics. Season one for Wytches is in production. We're doing voice casting and then animation. So we'll be really heavy into that, into production. So I'll still be very, very invested and involved in the Wytches series. But in terms of writing scripts, comics will be my gig for a little bit and I'm very, very excited to just have that in front of me.
And I also wanted to tell you guys, I'm definitely going back to the class. So as soon as I'm back from Italy, I'm going to do a class about reinventing superheroes. So we'll announce a time for that. But my guess is if I get back on Monday night into Tuesday, probably like Thursday of that week. So that would be, I think, November 7th. But we'll do a big class. I'll invite some people on. It'll be a return to form. If you're listening to this free post or you're reading it, the class is only $7/month and you get access to the 20+ classes we've done already. You get to skip the line at cons and come up at the beginning of signings. You get a lot of things like that, so it's definitely worth it (in my opinion). So sign up and you can join us and have fun with the class live next week. And then if you miss it, you can always watch it in our archive where all the classes are. And there's interviews with everybody from Greg Capullo to Donny Cates to James Tynion IV and so on.
So again, I'm really excited to get back into things and thank you guys for sticking with me through an incredibly busy and overwhelming period but it's finally kind of getting back to normal and I can't wait to dive back in with you. Thanks again!
