I know this is a simple, obvious thought, but being at the con, with friends, talking to them, it felt pretty profound. It still does. Again, not some epiphany - creators are humans! - but just being reminded of how MUCH people have going on in their lives: birth, death, illness, sadness and joy.

It was great meeting you in person Scott. I don’t mind saying how anxious I was at first when I saw your line, even more so when I got to move to the front (of which many vip level guests were giving me and the other students the death glare over) and finally get to speak to you, the great and powerful Scott Snyder, comic pro and professor, and to my amazement, was just a chill dude as human as any of us.

Talking with you, having you sign my books, getting to hand you my very first script, it still feels so surreal, but even more than that, feels so human on a level that I always forget about because as someone trying to learn and be like writers like u and the others, I put you up on a, granted small, pedestal which can affect how I view the man himself over the image I have.

But I see these posts and read these words and once again I am reminded how you and the others are just people, with lives outside the medium, and do the same things normal people do. For what it is worth, I do hope that despite the strong opinions people may have on ur and others works, that the negative opinions never outweigh all the good and positivity that comes with your work.

That’s why I hope you are able to, after coming back from traveling, get a chance to relax a little and get to be a comic reader for a while, before going back to being the writer. Just a small break before work takes over again I imagine.

Anyways, again it was wonderful to meet you finally, and I hope that time will permit you and your friends more time to socialize and relax from your workloads respectively. After all, who in this industry doesn’t deserve a proper break more than the creatives, eh?

Look forward to the next class, Prof.

Insightful. Deep. True. Profound.

Beautiful thoughts on a sometimes ugly topic, Scott.

The reader / creator relationship can be heavenly or hellish or anything in between. Opinions can differ. Passions can run high. As you say, interactions are more enriching for all when everyone remembers that those involved are human and interact…sure with passion and perspective…from empathy and basic human decency.🙏

As your point out often, the personal can make for great story with serious impact.

On the dark side, readers with personal attachments to characters who feel that “their” favorites are not in streaky hands can feel attacked…and lash out emotionally with hurtful (even threatening) online comments.

On the bright side, readers can form a personal affection for storytellers who create the tales that matter to them, care for their health and welfare, be thrilled to meet them, seek out their others works.

All of this on *both* sides, as you say, makes for more enriching interaction when everyone remembers that all involved are human and acts…sure with passion and perspective…but from empathy and basic human decency.🙏

Just curious if you’re a fan of the Twisted Twins better known as the Soska Sisters!? They posted a ton of photos from MegaCon on their instagram! Great stuff! Kinda be nice to see you 3 do a project or collab! They recently signed on with the RippaVerse on Yaira & have done a Black Widow mini, a Night Nurse tale & Crazy Kill Nymphos. Check out Dead Hooker in a Trunk, American Mary or their remake of David Cronenberg’s Rabid. Waiting on On the Edge to be released! Great guerrilla film making!!
