I really hope this is helpful you guys. The last few weeks has been a flurry of people asking me to look at pictures both for DC and for creator owned books. Again, my point isn’t, you need to only do books that sell well. I always say the same thing, you need to write the book that you would love to find the most that day. But I’ve had a lot of creators struggling with why the book they’re working on right now isn’t selling the way it might have 10 years ago, and so that’s the issue. I’m addressing here

Thank you for the advice and the inspiration. Your absolute Batman series is some of the best stuff ever !

Amazing advice, thanks for putting all that out there. Hope to get some pitches in front of the right eyes.

Hex is back! YAHOO! Hopefully not as undead moldy as Death Metal, but uglier than his best horse's nethers, since Jonah wouldn't ride anything prettier than he is.

Good pull on Exquisite Corpses. My third favorite comic of the year behind you and Kelly, Absolute-style.

Good stuff, Scott. Love the positive vibes and affection for solid books no matter who is putting them out. Wonderful to have you out there championing awesome comics--and taking us behind the curtain to show us how you and other creators make the magic happen. Looking forward to everything to come in 2026!

Great post, Scott! I wondered if you could expand on the idea of “meeting the market” for indie creators whose projects often take a year or more to produce, and how you can try and meet the market with a longer production time.

Great post, sir. Thank you.

It's amazing to me that the industry has decided to revisit its old business model of releasing dozens of variant covers for single issues. Did it not learn its lesson from the mistakes of the 90s?

It's always great to hear from you, Scott. Congratulations on your successes. My lil' comic shop, that began on Black Friday, has done so well that I may be expanding come spring, if it sustains. It's really low-key, 5-BCW short boxes w/ $1 name brand comics is my ground-level stuff. It's bringing comics to Kingston, TN & working with local comic shops.

I'm enjoying the Marvel Comics' 3 different Punisher series, Bad Idea's Ordained, IDW's Star Trek, Batman Second Knight, etc. Growing numbers of people are buzzing about my upcoming HELLFIRE comic book series. I'm currently producing 9 different comics. If I have to self-publish, I've already announced that they'll be out physically in NOV/DEC 2026.
