Cold opens sound like a great idea. I'm working my way through the classes now. I couldn't find a way to sort posts from oldest to newest for those of us getting a late start on the classes. No biggie. Appreciate all the content.
You're doing a fantastic job at DC Comics in various capacities. A number of things are going on with me that are pretty businessy & totally not my forte. I'm fast & hot at writing, managing people, organizing, and getting things done. All of this paperwork, trademark stuff is really nerve-racking & again - not my thing. ...Not sure if you've ever done classes on that kind of nightmare.
Absolute Green Arrow is something that I will be picking up from my pillbox & having signed on Saturday at Nirvana Comics in Knoxville, TN.
Regarding pitching, I don't really believe that it is my thing, whether it is or isn't. The way that I deal with other people & the way that I like to be dealt with are the same - Green light competence, give them a page count, issue count, and what not to do. If someone told me what I had to work with - I could come up with something fast. I work fast & write well. Being an artist myself, I work well with other artists. I think in pictures.
If you said to me, "Yes, DC wants to hire you. What have you got?" I'd say that I've written more Western Horror literature than anything else, & while it'd be stupid to type cast me, it'd also be smart to work an audience that I already have. Thereby, I'd say, "ABSOLUTE JONAH HEX - as my first pitch." Notably, the Absolute Universe isn't the same as this or any other. It's also extreme & extremely violent, so I could play off of that. I see visions in my head of Jonah running is sharp spur down the face of a man, tearing away the flesh & telling him that when he says move, you move. Then it backing away showing that he is driving a stage coach pulled by men instead of horses. - yet they're bound to it, with bits, blinders, & the whole 9 yards like horses. ...Without going into public detail what all I'd do in the story & what it'd be about - that'd be the opening scene. I firmly believe that could blow the doors off of that franchise in 3x 20-interior page books.

PS: If any Marvel folks are listening & know anything about my reputation as a writer (and thereby are interested), what I'd be interested in with them would be some NOIR UNIVERSE stuff. Frankly, I'd enjoy writing a GHOST RIDER NOIR. It'd be very in tune with the original one, where Satan by name is involved, blended with a 1930s-kinda Rebel Without A Cause sorta thing - if you get what I mean...
Just picked up ABSOLUTE GREEN ARROW #1 at my LCS, can’t wait to get into it!!
